Stay Cool This Summer!

🌞 REJUVENATE YOURSELF THIS SUMMER! 🌞

This year, summer has been exceptionally intense, making it challenging to enjoy the season as we usually do. Children are spending more time indoors, and dehydration has become a common concern for all of us. Let’s explore some updated summer diet tips to help you stay cool, hydrated, and healthy.

πŸ’§ Hydration: Your Best Defense Against the Heat

Water remains the ultimate hydrator. Even if you’re not feeling thirsty, make it a habit to drink water regularly throughout the day. Aim for about 2.7 liters (11.5 cups) for women and 3.7 liters (15.5 cups) for men daily, including fluids from all beverages and foods. If you are physically active in terms of exercise or having good step counts through out the day then focus on drinking more water/ Fluids then regular.

Choosing unhealthy fluids can definitely come with some additional calories which might work in reverse for your health. so let me suggest you some of my favorite healthy fluids for this summer.

  • Coconut water: Being a natural hydrating drink it, its loaded with natural source of electrolytes, minerals, vitamins, complex carbohydrates, amino acids and other nutrients.

  • Homemade electrolyte drinks: Blend fruits like oranges and mangoes with a pinch of salt and water for a refreshing alternative. Avoid adding sugar or jaggery. If you need to add sweetness you can add Monk Sugar.

  • Buttermilk Or Chaas : Its a traditional drink which works as a great coolant for the body.
  • Sattu Drink:Β  It is rich in fiber & Protein. Again a natural coolant. You can mix it with chilled water or lemon water.
  • Gond Katira Drink: It helps in instantly lowering of body heat, nose bleeds and also prevents body from heat strokes.
  • Sabja Seeds Water: Sabja seed water is also a natural collant. It also supports your body in digestion, body heat n summer.

πŸ₯€ Temperature Matters: Rethink That Ice-Cold Drink

While a chilled beverage might seem refreshing, extremely cold drinks can constrict blood vessels, reducing heat loss through sweat. Opt for beverages at room temperature or slightly cool to aid your body’s natural cooling processes.

🚫 Limit Sugary and Carbonated Beverages

Soft drinks and other sugary beverages can lead to dehydration and blood sugar spikes. They often contain artificial additives and offer little nutritional value. Instead, choose drinks that support hydration without added sugars.

πŸ‰ Eat Your Water: Hydrating Foods to Include

Incorporate water-rich fruits and vegetables into your diet to boost hydration:

  • Cucumbers: Approximately 95% water

  • Lettuce: Up to 96% water

  • Watermelon and other melons: At least 90% water

  • Celery, tomatoes, oranges, and strawberries: All excellent hydrating choices.

These foods not only hydrate but also provide essential vitamins and minerals.

🍽️ Light and Nutritious Meals

During hot weather, heavy meals can be unappealing. Focus on light, nutrient-dense foods:

  • Fresh fruits and vegetables: Incorporate seasonal produce like berries, tomatoes, and leafy greens

  • Salads and smoothies: Refreshing options that are easy to digest.

  • Avoid spicy, salty, and fried foods: These can increase body temperature and lead to dehydration.

🧼 Maintain Good Hygiene

Staying clean helps prevent heat-related skin issues and keeps you feeling fresh. Regular showers and wearing breathable clothing can make a significant difference.

πŸ’§More Water = Bloated

Many a times we drink water but you can fell that water stays in stomach for long and is not been easily absorbed by the body. This can happen if your body is highly acidic. Here you need to hydrate your body with ionized alkaline water which has quicker and better absorption.
